In January, we named the Razer Blade as our pick for the Best Laptop of 2013 for its incredibly compact form factor and powerful gaming performance, but as our review pointed out, there was one aspect in need of improvement: its 720p, low-contrast display. As it turns out, Razer was listening. For 2014, the company is pushing the Blade's display to new extremes with a staggeringly high-resolution 3200x1800 touchscreen display — the highest pixel count for any 14" laptop on the market, it claims.
The new Blade's display pushes past Apple's both the 13" and 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display in both overall resolution and pixels-per-inch — a whopping 262ppi vs. Apple's 227ppi and 220ppi, respectively. But perhaps even more importantly, Razer has drastically upgraded the quality of the display, swapping out last year's TN panel for an IPS IGZO for improved color representation, brightness, and viewing angles. The screen is also now encased in edge-to-edge glass and incorporates ten-point multitouch support — ideal for its preinstalled Windows 8.1 OS.
