Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
It was only a matter of time before the fairy tale characters ended up back in Storybrooke. And by matter of time, I mean the episode after they undid the curse. Surprising as it was to see the return happen so quickly, it worked for a couple of reasons. First of all, they didn't show Storybrooke until the very end of the episode. You had time to think about the little town, miss it, and maybe even hope that Emma and Henry would just return and have a meal at Granny's diner.
Secondly, it made sense. We don't know the ins and outs of why the Wicked Witch banished everyone back to Storybrooke or how she accomplished it, but we don't need to. Not yet. Actually, we don't even know for sure that the Wicked Witch is behind the new curse. They showed her power and that she wants to exact revenge upon Regina so she's a likely suspect. All of those hints were enough to make the return to Storybrooke intriguing rather than ridiculous.
