In the United States, Xbox One sold 258,000 units, 90% of the total PlayStation 4 sales in February, giving Sony’s PS4 another month as the hardware sales leader in 2014. Microsoft's higher price point on Xbox One, however, gives it the hardware lead in terms of dollars earned.
According to the NPD Group, the total hardware sales for the month were $347 million, with software earning $318 million.
Both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are on an enormous sales spike last month, with PS4 and Xbox One software sales up 80% compared to PS3 and Xbox 360’s first four months. NPD Group’s Liam Callahan stated that the majority of consoles “experienced double-to-triple digit increases compared to January 2014.”
