As a brand with over 40 years of experience building premium home audio products, Polk Audio's first foray into the gaming space with the 4Shot headset for Xbox One naturally piqued my interest. After all, decades of audio engineering experience would surely result in an exceptional gaming headset, right? Evidently not. In spite of its unique style and exceptional comfort, Polk's 4Shot is poorly constructed and provides an audio experience that is, at times, fatiguing for the user.
At $159.99, the Polk Audio 4Shot is by no means the most expensive headset on the market, but it's priced well above the caliber of look, feel, and quality it offers. While the design is refreshingly unconventional for a gaming headset, its marred by a flimsy build with cheap plastic encasing the earcups and a significant portion of the chassis. There are obvious weak points, like the swiveling posts that mount the earcups to the frame. In absence of any additional support, I question whether the 4Shot could survive a drop or reasonable amount of pressure. Everything about the 4Shot just feels rough around the edges.
