Director Edgar Wright has left his Marvel Studios film Ant-Man.
Variety reports that Marvel already has a new director lined up for the film, but they're not revealing the name just yet.
The studio and Wright (Shaun of the Dead, The World’s End) split up "due to differences in their vision of the film," Marvel and the director said in a statement.
This is certainly a big surprise, especially when considering that Wright has been attached to the projects ever since Marvel Studios first announced its initial slate of films back in 2006. The project took a backseat as other characters were given priority, but Wright always maintained that the film would happen. And in fact, Ant-Man finally did ramp up at Marvel with Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas signing on to play two different versions of the titular hero.
