Big Bang Theory: "Higgs Boson Observation" Review IGN All

Warning: full episode spoilers follow.


Season 6 of The Big Bang Theory kicked off with a strong sense of momentum as it picked up the various loose threads form Season 5. Unfortunately, that momentum seems to be slowing a bit as the series devotes too much attention to the tired Leonard/Penny dynamic and not enough to the rest of the gang. "The Higgs Boson Observation" has its moments, but ultimately felt pretty tepid compared to the previous two episodes.


At least the subject matter was very topical. On one hand, Sheldon busied himself poring over his childhood journals in hopes of uncovering a lost experiment that might win him the Nobel prize. This comes just as the latest batch of Nobel prizes are being handed out to real world achievers. Meanwhile, Wolowitz fell victim to the unpredictable nature of space travel, finding himself trapped aboard the International Space Station indefinitely while the Russians scramble to get things in order back on the ground. If only he lived in the real world, where the first commercial cargo delivery to the ISS was just completed. How very prescient of the writers. Spooky, really...
