Dokuro carefully balances clever and cliché by putting equal faith in its cool mechanics and worn premise. Rescuing a princess from evil monsters is, of course, a been-there starting point for the heroic prince protagonist, but Dokuro makes things interesting in a couple of ways. First and foremost, your regal hero is dead, reduced to a ghostly skeleton the princess can't see. Bringing yourself back to life is as important to keeping her safe as using your new supernatural powers is.
