Nashville: Series Premiere Review IGN All

Advance Review: For those of us who aren’t into country music, Nashville may not seem like an obvious choice when deciding what new shows to check out. But there is more to this show than just glorified country music videos. Created by Callie Khouri (the Oscar winning writer of Thelma and Louise), the first episode introduces Rayna Jaymes, an established star losing her ability to sell records, who is attempting to resist being relegated to second banana status as the opening act of a young up-and-comer, Juliette Barnes.


The first thing Nashville got right was to cast the always great Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) as Rayna. Britton is fabulous as a strong, confident singer who suddenly has reason to question her position in the music industry. Rayna has worked hard to get where she is professionally, but her falling sales have caused her record company to look for other options.
