Crowds buzzed around Tekken Tag Tournament 2 here at New York Comic-Con. Not only does the draw of Tekken's bright lights and outrageous characters pull in stares -- the on-the-horizon Wii U game pad sways alluringly from the kiosks. The Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 not only features the same content from its PlayStation and Xbox counterparts, but adds an array of exclusive goodies, complete with eyebrow-raising Nintendo costumes. But I sought a different kind of thrill this weekend outside of dressing up Tekken characters like Luigi: I sought the mushroom battle.
Found only in the Wii U version, the mushroom battle fills select stages from Tekken with the icon power-ups (and power-downs) of Mario fame. As players compete with a flurry of strikes and devastating grapples, mushrooms slide across the ground, awaiting pick up with apathetic eyes.
