Spoilers for the series up to issue #18 within.
It's almost November in the real world, but a new school year is just getting underway in the Marvel Universe. This week's Wolverine and the X-Men #19 kicks off Jason Aaron's second year's worth of stories on the series. And with Avengers vs. X-Men finished and new mutants springing up across the globe, there are some major changes in store.
The arrival of Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast didn't stop Marvel from holding another Next Big Thing press call today. Aaron was in attendance, along with artist Nick Bradshaw and editor and apparent Taylor Swift fanatic Nick Lowe.
Aaron started off the call by saying, "I feel really lucky to be doing an offbeat X-Men book like this. I don't think we've seen a book like this in the X-Men universe for quite a while, and I'm really thankful to the fans and the people who have supported it. This is our first Marvel NOW! issue -- issue #19. If anything, we're trying to get back to where we were before the AvX madness came in. We're picking up right from the end of issue #18, with a bit of a surprise there. I had lots of angry people on the Internet, which actually made my day." The big surprise Aaron referred to was the apparent death of Broo, though the cover to issue #25 and the preview art included below suggest that Broo may eventually recover from his wounds.
