It’s Adventure Time! And it’s about time, too, as fans of this most mathematical Cartoon Network animated series have been waiting for a proper video game version of Finn and Jake’s hilarious adventures ever since the show first debuted two and a half years ago. There have been some browser games and an iOS app in the meanwhile, but now, finally, we have an honest-to-goodness Adventure Time adventure to enjoy.
And it is so math. The winningly preposterously named Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage? pulls together every element needed for a successful playable take on this random, wacky world – it brilliantly captures the show’s sense of humor, its visuals perfectly match the art and animation of the cartoon, and, on top of that, the game design itself serves as the long-awaited sequel to Zelda II that Nintendo’s designers never made themselves.
