Universal and Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura haven't given up on bringing the classic video game Asteroids to the silver screen.
Variety reports that acclaimed playwright-turned-screenwriter Jez Butterworth (Fair Game, The Last Legion, Birthday Girl) has come aboard to script Asteroids. Previous writers to have taken a crack at the game-to-film include Matt Lopez and Evan Spiliotopoulos.
No word yet on what the current plotline of the film would be, although earlier drafts were rumored to be about two estranged brothers who must save Earth from aliens.
