Last night’s Once Upon a Time revealed a big secret about Emma’s past: she used to wear the most adorable glasses! Oh, and we also learned about Henry’s father and how the yellow Volkswagen came into Emma's possession.
Emma’s life before Henry is expected and unexpected at the same time. She was on the wrong side of the tracks, but she fell in love with Neal Cassidy when she stole a Volkswagen bug he was using as a bed. Interestingly enough, it turns out he is Michael Raymond-James’ character from the season premiere opening. He doesn’t seem to be from fairy tale land either.
The whole “love changes people” story may be cliché, but it worked. Seeing them decide to have a real life instead of just thieving was sweet and heartwarming, but the last hurdle between them and settling in Tallahassee proved to be insurmountable. August intervenes in his role as protector of Emma. He was convincing, and it’s clear he takes his job very seriously.
