Star Trek 2 IMAX Preview Coming Next Month IGN All

We have seen almost nothing of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness so far, but that's about to change in a big way. Like, IMAX big.


Starting next month -- on December 14 -- Paramount will show the first nine minutes of the Trek sequel on 500 IMAX 3D screens across the country. The film won't be released until next May, so this is a real surprise, and just the third time IMAX has scored such a "first look" (and the first time for IMAX 3D). Some sequences of Star Trek Into Darkness were shot with IMAX cameras.

Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team have really hit it out of the park -- the footage is absolutely incredible,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “Their use of the IMAX Camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trek fans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster.”
