The first issue of Thor: God of Thunder was ambitious, to say the least. It featured three very different versions of the title character, spread throughout three different time eras. Some thought this perhaps too ambitious; that the story could easily become convoluted or buried as the the comic skipped through time. Issue #2 nicely puts those fears to rest. Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic deliver the goods here, and the results are fairly awesome.
This issue focuses mainly on young Thor as he leads a group of vikings into battle. Things go south pretty quickly and Thor finds himself face-to-face (or blade-to-blade, as it were) with the butcher of gods. It's a pretty epic battle, involving flying horses, giant axes, and conjured shadow monsters. If you thought the first issue was lacking in the action department, then be prepared to enjoy the hell outta yourself.
