Earlier this month, the producers of The Hobbit sued the studio responsible for creating a low-budget flick titled Age of the Hobbits. That film is currently set to release the same week as Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
To win its trademark infringement claim, the Hobbit producers will need proof that consumers would be confused by what The Hollywood Reporter calls this pseudo-Hobbit "mockbuster." So, the team enlisted the Nielsen National Research Group to conduct a survey.
Using actual DVD artwork from Age of the Hobbits, consumers were shown two images: one featuring the current title, and a second identical image changing the word "Hobbit" to "Java Men." Here are the two images as they were presented in the survey (via THR):
