Fighting games are among the most simple and straightforward of gaming genres. Two characters enter the arena, and one leaves. Needless to say, the various attempts over the years to inject fighting games with complex characters and storylines have been mixed at best. The benefit to a game like Injustice: Gods Among Us is that it has decades of character history and relationships to build from. Immediately, gamers want to know why exactly Superman and Wonder Woman are beating the snot out of each other, not simply whose 10-hit air juggle combo is easier to pull off.
As the release of the game looms close, DC has set about setting the stage for the world of Injustice with a prequel comic book. The aim is to explore the downfall of Earth's heroes and the events that lead up to the all-out warfare of the game. Similar to other digital-first DC projects, each print issue collects three chapters of the digital version.
