Subscribers to Sony's Music Unlimited service are about to receive a significant boost in audio quality. Starting today, the service's 18 million song catalog will be available in 320kbps AAC audio on the PlayStation 3, Android devices, and the company's web-based player. The announcement marks a considerable increase in audio fidelity for the service, which previously utilized bitrates of only 48kbps. Music Unlimited is Sony's answer to services like Spotify and Rdio, offering streaming access to a digital library of songs from an ever-expanding array of artists in tiered monthly subscriptions priced at $4.99 and $9.99.
