Zombie Studios have confirmed with IGN that the worldwide rights for console versions of Blacklight: Retribution have been negotiated from the PC version's publisher Perfect World Entertainment.
Speaking in a press release, Studio Creative Head Jared Gerritzen said, "Reacquiring the console rights to Blacklight: Retribution allows us a great deal of flexibility in the growth of the Blacklight franchise. We have always had huge plans for the Blacklight franchise and with this move we will finally be able to bring the game to console."
Unfortunately little other information is currently available. For instance it's not clear what consoles the acclaimed first-person shooter could come out for -- specifically, whether it's slated for current or next-gen consoles. It's also not known at this point Retribution will embrace the free-to-play model of its PC counterpart, or if the console version will follow a more traditional pricing format. The only clue we get about this is from a statement from Zombie CEO Joanna Alexander, who says, "we are thrilled to see all of the major console manufacturers supporting the free to play business model."
