There's good news and bad news with the latest issue of Phantom Stranger. The bad news is that it's basically a filler issue. The Stranger takes a trip to Las Vegas this time around, and while it isn't necessarily a detour on his quest to discover the fate of his missing family, the overall plot only barely inches forward by the end. But bear in mind that this series has often struggled to be "important" at the expense of good, solid storytelling. All the character cameos have only worked to make this book feel less like a vital read and more a means to an end as far as pushing various pieces across the New 52 board. So a filler issue that slows down and explores the Stranger's relationship to some of DC's supernatural entities in greater detail isn't really such a bad thing.
