After last week’s great episode that focused heavily on the season-long mythology, this week the Winchesters were back on a regular monster-of-the-week hunting trip in “Freaks and Geeks.” Although much of the plot was typical for a hunting story, an appearance by Krissy Chambers (Madison McLaughlin) from Season 7’s “Adventures in Babysitting” set the episode apart from a run of the mill vampire hunt.
If it weren’t for the clips of previous episodes at the beginning that reminded me about Krissy and her previous adventure with Sam and Dean, it might have been easier to fall for the opening setup. But even if you weren’t fooled into thinking that Krissy and Aidan were a couple teens in danger, the ending of the scene was still intriguing. Not only was the whole thing a setup to hunt down a vampire, but with comments like “One down, two to go,” it was clear that Krissy and her friends, Aidan and Josephine, had a larger plan in mind that just killing the one vampire.
