Roger Ebert -- film critic, TV host, Pulitzer Prize winner, arch-enemy yet best friend to Gene Siskel, and inspiration to an entire generation of movie writers, bloggers and just film lovers in general -- has died. He was 70.
Ebert had been battling cancer for the past decade, and only yesterday announced his "leave of presence," saying that he would be reducing his workload due to his health.
He passed away today, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, his home since 1966.
