Hackers have breached the forum and game databases for The War Z, which compromises users email addresses, passwords, character data, and other login information. As a result, the game has been taken offline temporarily.
Passwords, the War Z team assures users on its website, are encrypted, and no payment information has been stolen. However, War Z users have been advised to change their passwords.
"We are issuing this Security Alert to all Survivors as a precaution so you can take some precautionary measures on your own," the developer writes. "We have already taken a number of steps to increase security and are continuing to work with external advisors and investigators to identify and implement measures to minimize the chance of this happening in the future."
