Uncanny X-Men #5 Review IGN All

Uncanny X-Men #5 explores the inner working of Magik’s mind as she falls further down a rabbit hole from which there might be no escape. There’s lots of telling with a veneer of showing that is thin but lovely. Frazer Irving’s art spices up a relatively slow-paced plot—that’s not a negative, merely a statement of fact—with richly colored scenes in Limbo as Illyana Rasputin battles her demons.


Brian Michael Bendis delivers a masterful double page spread at the start. As Cyclops’ powerful message to the mutant community blares in the background, a round table meeting aboard S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier provides some of the issue’s best lines. The Avengers have slunk back with their tails between their legs and when asked for a report, they basically reply, “We don’t want to talk about it.”
