Dan Slott has made no secret of the fact that Superior Spider-Man #9 will be a controversial and divisive Spider-Man comic. But coming so quickly on the heels of Amazing Spider-Man #700 and Superior Spider-Man #1, that's pretty much par for the course now. There's no reason to be upset about what transpires in this issue, as it's not likely to be any more permanent than the other Superior changes that have transpired. Rather, this issue offers cause for optimism.
Slott addresses what has been one of the series most significant storytelling flaws to date in the form of the dynamic between Otto Octavius and the lingering presence of Peter Parker. Whatever comes next, it's doubtful that dynamic will continue to be a burden on the series.
