We knew that Jonah Hill walked away from the chance to play Shia LaBeouf ’s sidekick in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but now the comedic-actor turned actor-actor says he also turned down The Hangover. And not just that, but he turned down all three leads in The Hangover.
“A genuine fear of mine was that I was going to be known as ‘The Guy from Superbad’ for the rest of my life,” Hill recalls in an interview with Bullett. After the success of Superbad, director Todd Phillips approached him about playing “any one of the three main parts in The Hangover,” according to the actor. “They were both really big decisions, and ones that most people didn’t understand,” he says of the Hangover and Transformers gigs. “I knew I could be a dramatic actor, but I also knew I couldn’t go from Superbad to Schindler’s List.”
