With the way it dabbles in some of the less savory characters and elements from the '90s X-books, Cable and X-Force would be a terrible book if it didn't revel in its own absurdity at times. But that's exactly what issue #14 does. Even as writer Dennis Hopeless works to wrap up his latest major conflict, he finds ample time for Future Hope to poke fun at Present Hope, the Uncanny Avengers to trade banter with X-Force, and Doctor Nemesis to to lambast people for not understanding his Dune references. This issue stumbles in several areas, but the humor isn't one of them.
