I was excited to see the terrific Jim Beaver guest star in this episode, reuniting with his Supernatural writer/producers Eric Kripke and Ben Edlund. However, ultimately, he seemed notably underutilized, only appearing in the beginning and ending of the episode. Although I did enjoy what I assume was the in-joke of Beaver’s character, John Fry, being told he could “Go back to Carver” – Jeremy Carver being Supernatural’s current showrunner.
