At first glance, 1983's Sleepaway Camp might be considered a pretty standard slasher flick, but as fans know, it was the film's shocking twist ending that raised it to cult status. Sadly, as with many '80s horror films, the franchise later suffered a slew of sequels ranging from good to godawful.
That is why producer Jeff Katz thinks it's time for a reboot. According to Deadline, Katz recently optioned remake rights from the original film's rights holders: writer-director Robert Hiltzik, producer Michele Tatosian, and star Felissa Rose, who starred in the 1983 original as Angela Baker, the bullied female lead whose summer camp turns into a bloodbath when a mysterious killer starts offing campers.
