Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Going in, it was pretty widely touted that this episode of Agents of SHIELD would bring back several elements and characters from previous episodes and also, notably, be the first actual two-parter of the series, complete with cliffhanger. That being the case, I was really hoping for it to really kick ass. That wasn’t to be, though it did continue the show’s overall recent “pretty good” run, while still keeping the show from kicking it into high gear in a way we all want it to.
It was certainly nice to see Mike Peterson again, as J. August Richard’s performance and character were a strong part of the show’s pilot episode, and I also like the suitably intriguing presence of the villainous Raina, previously seen in “Girl in the Flower Dress.” But “The Bridge” continued to hint at bigger, more concrete developments without actually giving us enough to really chew on. Okay, Centipede are upping their game, but who are they? Who runs them? What do they want? We still need something more tangible, beyond Raina and the newly-introduced Edison Poe, who was pretty dull, overall. Hopefully it’s The Clairvoyant, when we meet him or her.
