Founded a little more than 20 years ago by a group of disgruntled Marvel artists, Image Comics became synonymous with the comic artists’ rights movement of the 1990s. An upcoming documentary titled The Image Revolution promises to tell Image’s story from its inception to its current stable of properties, which includes The Walking Dead.
The full film can be preordered over at Sequart. In the meantime, you can spend a few minutes with some of the founders of Image Comics in this fascinating clip. Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane and Marc Silvestri critize both Marvel and DC, telling the story of how the trio marched into the head offices of both outfits and announced their intention to go their own way. Added bonus: you get to see Marvel’s EIC (Tom DeFalco, according to Comics Alliance) do a Three Stooges pratfall through an open door.
