When Soul Sacrifice came to PlayStation Vita in late April of 2013, it promised to bring to Sony’s struggling handheld what it so desperately needed: a Monster Hunter-like experience. In many ways, it succeeded, finding a large, hardcore userbase that encouraged Sony to make a sequel. Well, kind of.
Series creator (and Father of Mega Man) Keiji Inafune told IGN after Soul Sacrifice’s release that he’d like to make a sequel, but it wasn’t until nearly six months later that one was finally revealed. That sequel is called Soul Sacrifice Delta, and it’s really more of a Soul Sacrifice “1.5” than an all-new game. It comes to Vita in Japan in March of this year; its western release has yet to be confirmed.
