Selling Time, a movie that has languished in pre-production for years, has finally found a director in D.J. Caruso. Caruso, who previously directed Disturbia, Eagle Eye, and I Am Number Four, will also co-produce and oversee a new draft of the script by Dan McDermott.
20th Century Fox’s goal in hiring Caruso is to attract Will Smith to star in the film. Smith has reportedly been interested since shortly after McDermott sold the original spec script way back in 2001. Since then the screenplay has been rewritten by Spike Lee as well as Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Per Deadline:
