First Look at Samsung's New Android Camera IGN All

Samsung is taking another shot at Android-powered point-and-shoot cameras with its recently announced Galaxy Camera 2. The second generation device features many of the same specs as the original model—including a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS Sensor, Xenon flash, and 21x optical zoom—but it does include a few notable changes, making it an overall more capable camera. I got to spend some time with the Galaxy Camera 2 while at CES, and left Samsung's booth surprisingly satisfied with its performance.


The Galaxy Camera 2's software has been updated to include Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, complete with access to the Google Play store. Samsung's camera app also features more shooting modes—28 in total—and new image processing software. The device has received a slight design change as well, which includes the faux-leather material that Samsung seems determined to apply to its entire range of mobile products.
