Tonight at its press conference at CES, Nvidia introduced its next-generation mobile processor, the Tegra 5. Building upon last year's Tegra 4, which powers the Nvidia Shield, the Tegra K1 adopts the same Kepler architecture found in the company's GeForce desktop GPUs, offering a staggering 192 CUDA cores. Nvidia claims that the Tegra K1 effectively bridges the gap between PCs and smartphones and tablets in terms of raw horsepower and performance.
As part of its showing, Nvidia announced that Epic Games would be bringing its upcoming Unreal Engine 4 to the Tegra K1.
While Tegra K1-enabled products are still forthcoming, Nvidia has designed the chip for a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, Android games consoles, and even cars.
