Whereas last year, Marvel relied on Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers to kickstart Marvel NOW, this year the honor falls on Jonathan Hickman's Avengers. It makes sense, as Avengers has been far more integral in terms of shaping Marvel's status quo over the past year. However, Avengers #24.NOW isn't as clean and simple a gateway into the Marvel U. The weird structure and general lack of excitement in this issue might make it hard for new readers to care about the future of the Avengers franchise.
