Video games have been around long enough that most of us grew up with them - going back to some of our earliest memories. Games helped us smile and have fun as little tykes, got us through awkward teenage years, and remained a part of our lives as we officially moved into adulthood.
We asked IGN's editors if they remember a moment when they officially realized they had become a grown-up gamer. Their answers might surprise you.
This cursed, 25 years-old baby face means I'll be ID'd buying M-rated games until the day I die, but 2013 was the year I finally felt like a real-life, capital-a Adult Person Who Plays Games. I finished Persona 4: Golden, a game that made me realize the triviality of high school problems. Meanwhile, I admired the realistic ways in which it portrays how we struggle to maintain friendships and other relationships, whether romantic or familial. I finished Gone Home, a game whose portrayal of a blossoming lesbian relationship shows the inverse perspective of high school growing pains -- meaningful, distressing drama that matters. I finished Grand Theft Auto V, a game harboring such anger and resentment for the player, America, and the world that it made me wonder if games were even for me anymore.
