Even though it doesn’t come out until this weekend, Warner Bros. has reportedly already begun work on a sequel to The LEGO Movie. The decision is based on market research that anticipates a monster $40 million+ opening weekend for the animated comedy.
In his review earlier today, IGN’s Daniel Krupa gave The Lego Movie high praise, calling it “bizarre, colourful, optimistic, frequently hilarious, and perhaps most surprisingly, genuinely touching.” It tells the tale of an average minifig named Emmett who gets caught up in an adventure, the outcome of which will decide the fate of the LEGO universe. Along the way he meets up with licensed characters such as Batman as well as original creations designed specifically for the film.
