Amazon appears ready to finally unveil its long rumored set-top box/games console next week, announcing a video-focused event for April 2.
Amazon issued press invites this morning, which promise an "update on our video business from Peter Larsen," who is vice president of Kindle. Just last week, reports suggested Amazon's set-top box wasn't a box at all, but instead a Chromecast-like dongle that's capable of streaming PC games.
A few days before that, pictures were uncovered of what looks like an Amazon games controller, featuring dual sticks, face buttons and triggers. Earlier this year, reports said that Amazon's set-top box/games console would cost less than $300, though there is some now conflicting information in that rumor. For one, the device was physically compared to a gray PSOne, with sharp edges, which differs with the HDMI dongle report.
