Apple Reportedly in Talks with Comcast for New TV Service IGN All

Apple and Comcast are reportedly discussing a partnership for a streaming television service that would most likely work via Apple TV.


According to The Wall Street Journal, the two companies are in talks regarding a way Apple can get preferred treatment when accessing Comcast's connection to the Internet. The discussions — while early — would reportedly let users access live and on demand TV content via the cloud instead of utilizing a traditional set-top box.


There remain many hurdles before a deal is made, though, insider sources say. Apple supposedly wants direct access to Comcast's customers, with people logging on with their Apple IDs. In addition, the Cupertino-based company wants reassurances that connectivity and performance for the TV service are high quality, which will mean a considerable investment by Comcast.
