Once Upon a Time: "The Tower" Review IGN All

Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.


First of all, I'm sorry my review is up later than normal!


Given the oh so subtle name of the episode and what we saw in previews, we knew Rapunzel (Alexandra Metz) would appear. Unfortunately, she didn't get a ton of screen time even if her experiences were key to Charming pulling through his fear. Her familiar story got changed into a boring version where her tower became like the Dark side cave on Dagobah. While it was interesting to see how what Charming learned from the encounter tied to current events in Storybrooke (that was done seamlessly), I wanted Rapunzel to have more.


There's no reason Disney has to tie its animated films into Once, but Tangled is such a fan favorite that I'm surprised they didn't keep that origin or something similar in place. Mother Gothel would be a fantastic villain to save for later down the line, but now, the only villain in Rapunzel's story was herself. It was a letdown.
