Scott Snyder Begins a New Cycle of American Vampire IGN All

American Vampire was Scott Snyder's big break in comics. The series dusted off the tired vampire trope and offered a clever new spin in the form of various species of vampire all fighting for survival across the 20th Century. It immediately became one of the most popular series in the Vertigo imprint, and Snyder developed an engrossing saga that spanned 34 issues and several spinoffs.


Unfortunately, American Vampire went on hiatus last year so Snyder and artist Rafael Albuquerque could recharge and focus on other projects for a while. That hiatus came to an end last week as DC published American Vampire: Second Cycle #1. This new volume begins the second half of Snyder and Albuquerque's saga, picking up with Skinner Sweet and Pearl Jones in 1965 as the mysterious Gray Trader emerges from the shadows.
