Note: Full Spoilers Ahead!
FINALLY.
We waited months for some kind of rising action, episode after episode of wandering plot and bad ideas from good characters that led nowhere. We knew eventually it would lead to some clash of Crowes v. Crowders v. marshals, but this season wasn't pointing toward something so elegant.
In "Starvation," the hens came home to roost in a cataclysm of showdowns, with great action and twists and turns. And just as you thought things were coming to a head, they didn't and they did at the same time.
In between were little quirky slice of life pieces that made the series feel whole again: Dewey getting shot at by the sweet old lady, Mikey cleaning the hotel room in a bathrobe, the poor bartender getting shot in the leg, the prostitutes back with Dewey (why were they taking video exactly?), and so on. They even threw in an American Hustle reference just to build a little character background, and Tim (Jacob Pitts) suggesting it needed a little more Jason Statham (and Raylan agreeing) was a perfect amount in a five-second bit.
