Minecraft continues to sell phenomenally well on every platform it comes to, with the latest milestone for the sandbox game being the 12-million-unit mark on Xbox 360.
The figure was announced earlier today and makes Minecraft one of the best-selling games on Xbox 360 despite being released less than two years ago as an Xbox Live Arcade game. (Last year, a disc-based version was released.) More impressive is the fact that the 360 version could end up outselling the PC version, which, as of this writing, is approaching 15 million sales.
In a post on Xbox Wire, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan recalled how selling just 1 million units would have been fine with him. "I remember when we started talking about sales numbers that we would be super happy to sell 1 million copies," he said. "That would have put us on par with BF1943 and Castle Crashers, which both are awesome games, so that was something to aim for. We never even dreamed of selling 12 million!"
