So, the Man of Steel sequel is rapidly approaching and as we all know by now, Wonder Woman is going to be a part of it, played by Gal Godot. Rejoicing, glitter, parade in the streets, et cetera. Diana’s appearance in the new renaissance of superhero movies has been long overdue, after all. Marvel’s doing OK – Captain America’s latest outing, for example, featured no less than three women doing things – but Wonder Woman’s inclusion in this Superman sequel means that DC’s roster of female superheroes has, effectively, doubled. Hooray for that.
However, as significant as her inclusion is, this is still a guest appearance in a movie that’s going to be titled by two of comicdom’s heaviest hitters. However prominent Wonder Woman turns out to be in the movie (and one hopes that she will be at least somewhat important), this isn’t a Wonder Woman movie. It’s still going to be two dudes in bodystockings grunting at each other. As a Wonder Woman fan, that simply isn’t acceptable.
