Gerard Butler has reportedly dropped out of the Point Break remake, which was scheduled to start production in June.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Butler won't star as Bodhi in the upcoming film because of various factors, including scheduling conflicts with London Has Fallen and creative differences. But sources claim Butler's departure won't affect the start date for the film, with producer Alcon Entertainment planning to cast a replacement in the next couple of weeks.
Point Break producer Broderick Johnson gave an update just last month on the remake, elaborating on the film's departure from the source material as well as the importance of the relationship between Bodhi and Utah (Luke Bracey). "The script only shares in common with the original the characters and the nature of the character dynamic between Utah and Bodhi and their relationship," he said. "Everything else about the movie is different. The narrative of the movie is different."
