CBS have picked up the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, How I Met Your Dad, for the 2014-2015 TV season. The series is considered a "format" spinoff, in that it doesn't center on any of the HIMYM characters, but rather takes the same basic concept with a new group of characters.
Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha) is the lead, with a supporting cast that includes Nick D’Agosto, Andrew Santino and Tiya Sircar. How I Met Your Mother's Carter Bays and Craig Thomas created the series, along with Emily Spivey (Parks and Rec, Up All Night).
