Seth Rogen and Zac Efron's family vs. frat comedy Neighbors dethroned The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the box office this weekend, exceeding expectations with an estimated $51.1 million debut.
This makes Neighbors the latest R-rated comedy hit for Universal, the studio that also released Ted, and marks Rogen's biggest live-action opening to date, surpassing his previous best for The Green Hornet ($33.5 million).
The Spidey sequel dropped 59% this weekend, falling to second place with $37.2 million. Its current domestic total is roughly $147.9 million. It's so far made $550.9 million worldwide.
