Apple plans to let iPhone and iPad users have more control over their home appliances and electronics with a new SDK feature called HomeKit.
Revealed today at WWDC, HomeKit allows people to control individual appliances or groups of electronics with iOS 8. Instead of each appliance or electronic requiring their own app, Apple worked with home automation leaders for HomeKit. For example, Apple said you could tell Siri that you're going to bed, at which point HomeKit would dim the lights, lock the doors, and make sure the garage door was closed.
