Star Wars: A New Dawn Review IGN All

While there’s a clear attempt to emulate the subtitle to the original Star Wars film, A New Hope, with the new book, Star Wars: A New Dawn, there’s a lot of reasons that title fits. Not just storywise – though it does tie into the themes of the book – but also because A New Dawn marks the start of a big new direction for Star Wars.


With Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, and work underway on multiple new Star Wars movies, the decision was made to officially decree that the previous novels and other stories that fell under the “expanded universe” heading were not part of canon. However, moving forward, when it comes to new stories set in this universe, most everything, including books and comics – unless otherwise noted -- is canon, and outside of a few short stories, A New Dawn is the first major representation of the future of Star Wars.
